Due to a great team and plenty of drive and determination Ninetwenty thankfully has not been one of them and we can now see real reasons to feel optimistic about the IT industry in 2010.

    In my 21 years in the IT recruitment industry I think we may be just be coming out of the most ‘game changing’ period I have seen. Sure 1990 was tough post the ’87 crash and Y2K created huge opportunity, then a following lull, but this may be different!

    1. The flexible workforce is now a reality!
    2. Price transparency and value is for real!
    3. Social networks is the great technology enabler!
    4. “people are our most important asset”… this Mantra will now be tested like never before!

    It’s Christmas again. We have 6 weeks more or less to get find the perfect gifts for the ones we love
    (and the in-laws). Of course what will actually happen is you’ll do nothing untill December 20th and then, if you’re anything like me, you’ll race out to stores you know the jingles for (Farmers, Whitcouls, Briscoes, et al) to buy DVDs, books, vouchers, magazine subscriptions, perfume, bathrobes… Yawn.

    2E-readers: To be open or not to be open

    As e-readers grow in popularity, a debate is growing about how well proprietary formats such as Amazon.com uses with the Kindle will do against more open approaches that allow users to download e-books to just about any device.

    LibreDigital is previewing its AllAccess content delivery platform to allow publishers, authors and book resellers to offer book readers the option of downloading and reading e-books they purchase on virtually any device, such as a desktop computer, Apple iPhone, Amazon Kindle or Sony Reader.
