Welcome to this week’s 920 Weekly Roundup! Let’s see what’s been in the news this week..
New Zealand company Haptly have developed a way for farmers to have accurate knowledge of how much feed is on their property. The prototype drone is able to deliver data analysis and real-time images of the farm directly to the “cloud”. Farmers are then able to access this information, including details on irrigation, weed management and dry-matter needs, on their smartphones, tablets and computers. This will allow farmers to manage and monitor their farms at any time and from anywhere.
Apple chief executive, Tim Cook, has singled out Australian Anvitha Vijay as one of the best and brightest app developers in the world, Anvitha is just nine years old. She started creating apps at the age of seven, by teaching herself to write codes through YouTube videos. Anvitha created the app ‘Smartkins Animals’ which presents children with 100 animals. She is sure to have a bright future as she received a $10,000 prize last year at the OzApp awards. Anvitha says “I want to be an app developer so I can make a difference in the world, all the hard work does not seem like hard work anymore when people download and start using what you have made. It is the best feeling ever.”
Apple users will be happy to hear that you will be soon able to delete the pre-installed apps from your iPhone… if you do the next iOS update. It has been known as one of the most annoying iPhone features as they take up precious space on your phone even though they are never used. If you do delete these apps once the next iOS update comes out, you’ll be able to find them again in the App Store if you decide you do want to use them.

Have a lovely weekend
