920 Weekly Roundup

November 28th, 2014 by admin

Welcome to this weeks 920 Weekly Roundup! Let’s see what we’ve been talking about this last week of November . . .

This week Fast Company was talking about difficult conversations at work in 5 difficult conversations managers hate to have and tackling 5 of works most difficult conversations. Here are the ones we thought were hardest:

1. How do I ask for a raise?
2. How can I tell my micromanaging boss to back off?
3. Your performance is lacking
4. Other employees aren’t getting along with you
5. And of course… You’re fired

This week Perth had its jobs expo and residents (Kiwis and Aussies alike) have been urged to move to NZ where they have been told that NZ is cheaper and the job prospects are better. The expo has targeted the emerging skills shortages in NZ with a key focus on the ICT sector. With our growing economy more than 50,000 skilled jobs are expected to be created over the next couple of years.

For a bit of fun on your Friday afternoon . . . take this quiz: How well do you know the internet? Our average score was 10 out of 12 – not too shabby!

Have a great weekend and for those of you that are systems engineers . . . Happy International Systems Engineer Day!
