Welcome to the third instalment of the 920 weekly roundup! Let’s see what we’ve been talking about this week…
We all know that the IT sector is booming in NZ and Trade Me Jobs has noticed a 7.5% growth in employment in the past 3 months. This is across all regions in the IT sector, especially Auckland, Wellington, Canterbury and the Waikato. But it’s also pretty good to know that it pays the best too. IT architects are the biggest earners nationwide demanding an average salary of $139,476; this is closely followed by IT Project Managers, IT Managers and IT sales and pre-sales workers. The ‘improved economic and employment opportunities in New Zealand also contributed to the lowest ever level of migration to Australia in May.’
Here at the Ninetwenty office we use LinkedIn on a daily basis. After looking through lots of profiles we find it much better and easier when a profile has been completed and shows detailed information about past jobs, experience and key skills. Here’s a great article and infographic about how to optimise your LinkedIn profile.
We are all for life hacks in the 920 offices and this one from Lifehack.org about how to Google like a boss is one of the handiest we’ve seen in awhile.
And just in case your Friday is full of long (and possibly boring) meetings, here are some great tips to help you look smart. We like number 4 – Nod continuously while pretending to take notes – and number 5 – Repeat the last thing the engineer said, but very very slowly.
Have a great weekend!
The Ninetwenty Team
