It’s the beginning of June and I’m off on leave for a week… a good opportunity for my colleagues to indulge in the Football world cup frenzy… flags are already flying, my French flag taking pride of place, a random looking English flag (I’m sure it’s made of plastic) alongside it… a Croatian flag will appear shortly… I hope. The banter over the next few weeks will no doubt be robust… never personal of course.
But I digress… one of the reasons for my break is that it’s been a hectic start to the year. Even January, when typically times are quieter, was a busy month and it hasn’t let up. The demand for contracting resource especially in the PM and BA space has been constant… good contractors often have a number of opportunities before them. This in turn makes it a competitive market from an employer’s perspective. Rates have not changed substantially, slight increases perhaps in the expectation of daily/hourly rates and a little ‘push back’ from employers but business goes on. There are some large transformation projects underway in the financial services sector and these will see an ongoing demand, especially for Program/Project Management and Business Analysis resource.
Of particular interest to many business’s at this time is how they define and implement their digital strategy going forward so expertise in this area is sought after. We are also facing an increased demand for Information and Integration Architects across different industry sectors (both contract and permanent resource). This is in constant demand and remuneration packages need to reflect market rates to attract high calibre candidates.
Overall, it’s a very busy time for us. We’re excited to announce we are expanding our team next month with a new specialist Consultant in the development space. Given all of the above that is going on I’m taking a break… see you in a week or so.
