NATHAN MASTERS, 920 Senior Consultant updates us on what’s happening in the Wellington IT scene.
The last month has been the “Month of the .NET Developer” as the demand for resource in both the permanent and contracting fields has been immense. So if you are a .NET Developer it is a great time to be looking or if you manage a team of .NET Developers, hang onto them as they are IN DEMAND.
The hype or nervous excitement is starting to resonate around Wellington re the large IRD transformation as providers start to manoeuvre and have partnering conversations. The reality is that from a resourcing point of view entities won’t start mobilising potential teams until early / mid-year from what I can see.
What is pleasing to see is that some customers are realising that when someone a bit special comes through their door for an interview they need to move quick. We have seen people go through a process in three-days, some go through a process within a week. That sort of movement gives candidates a confidence of sorts that things can move quickly within that potential company. On the flip side there have been some disappointed customers as they felt they didn’t get a chance to ‘get their message or value proposition across’.
From a skill-set point of view, below is a snapshot of what is demand at the moment:
– SharePoint Developers
– WebSphere Message Broker Developers / Consultants
– .NET Developers
– iOS / Android Developers
– Solution Architects
