iCoil Keeps Your Headphones Tangle-free

June 17th, 2013 by admin

In a perfect world, all electronics would be cordless.

Think about how many times you’ve tripped over your laptop  charger, or the countless occasions on which you’ve found your iPod  earbuds at the bottom of your gym bag in a knotted mess.

Begrudge their inconvenience as we may, most of the devices  we use still depend on cords – whether they serve to transfer  information or electricity.

However, as Bluetooth technology has expanded its scope,  wireless headphones have become widely – though not cheaply – available.  Bluetooth-powered headphones eliminate the problem of cord tangling  entirely, but there’s hope yet for those of us who still plug in to tune  in.

iCoil, Colin Kent’s first Kickstarter project,  is a simple, circular plastic accessory that winds your headphone cable  two ways – allowing it to extend and retract according to your needs.

Kent mentions that most of the cord winding devices that are  available to consumers right now come with their own set of earbuds that  cannot be swapped out for another pair. And more often than not, these  headphones are of a poorer quality than those the user owns. Kent’s  design, on the other hand, is essentially universal – giving people the  freedom to use iCoil with the headphones of their choice.

Since its launch on June 8, iCoil has raised almost US$11,000  from backers. The project is already fully funded and still has  more  than 20 days to go. With a US$11 pledge on Kickstarter, the iCoil and  tangle-free listening can be yours.
