Come join in the buzz of Wellington’s biggest fun run and walk on Sunday 17 February 2013. AMI Round the Bays Wellington takes advantage of a picturesque setting which winds its way around Wellington’s stunning inner city harbour.
The 7km Fun Run/Walk (officially 6.7km) starts in the city centre and follows Oriental and Evans Bays Parade to Kilbirnie Park in the City’s south-east. The ISC Lenco Half Marathon continues on around the Miramar Peninsula where it hugs the harbour shoreline, before returning to the finish line festival at Kilbirnie Park. At the finish line live music, food stalls, a family area, corporate area, spot prizes and massage tents all add to the festival atmosphere.
The 2012 event was the first ever sell out in the event’s long history, with a record field of 12,000 runners. Sport Wellington has increased capacity to 13,000 but expect to sell out once again.
The event is organised by Sport Wellington, a regional sports trust which promotes and supports sport and recreation in the Wellington region. Returning in 2013 is AMI Insurance as principal sponsor. AMI is proud to continue their support of the AMI Round the Bays for the third year. They have a strong affinity with the communities in which they operate and a commitment to supporting Sport Wellington and the Wellington community.
Also returning in 2013 as the Official Charity Partner, is the Malaghan Institute. Based at Wellington’s Victoria University campus, the Malaghan Institute is New Zealand’s leading independent medical research facility. The scientists at the Malaghan Institute are dedicated to finding a cure for cancer, asthma, arthritis, MS and infectious diseases. You can raise money for their amazing work by ‘Running for Research’.
Our other fantastic sponsors returning for 2013 are ISC Lenco (Naming rights sponsor of the ISC Lenco Half Marathon), Les Mills Gyms, ZM and the Dominion Post.
