TelstraClear loses Ministry of Social Development contract

The Ministry of Social Development has ditched TelstraClear and is in contract negotiations with Gen-i and Vodafone for its telecommunications services.
The new telecommunications service contract will provide for all data, voice and mobility communications connectivity throughout the ministry, says Tim Occleshaw, the ministry’s CIO.

Telecom New Zealand introduces Okta Mobile with three Windows Mobile devices

Telecom New Zealand has revealed its new brand dedicated to mobile handsets by introducing three new Windows Mobile devices.

The Okta Touch is the first device in the country with a finger activated user interface. In addition to the usual tapping on screen many are used to when interacting with PDAs, the Okta Touch responds to gestures thanks to a technology called TouchFLO. It connects to Telecom New Zealand CDMA EV-DO network provinding fast 3G cellular data connections.
