Microsoft has established Outlook as one of the leading applications for reading, writing, and managing e-mail. With Outlook 2010 and Outlook Social Connectors, though, Microsoft is breaking that mold and adapting the software as a communications hub rather than an e-mail utility by incorporating social networks like LinkedIn, MySpace, and now Facebook.

Twitter wants to know where you are

A new location-sharing tool lets you tell the Twitterverse where you are. The microblogging site has turned on its new geolocation feature, which allows you to tell the Twitterverse where you are when you tweet. The new feature, which is off by default, is only available to US users right now, but should be rolled out in other countries fairly soon, according to Twitter co-founder Biz Stone.
