Last day of DrupalCon in Paris!

by Esther

Our IT Rockstar Josh Waihi is still living it large in Paris - I have posted this a bit late but here is his account of the last day of DrupalCon:

Today is the last day for Drupalcon presentations. The final day tomorrow is a code sprint to get the last things in for code freeze beofre the slush starts.

Drupalcon Paris has been awesome so far, I’ve meet webchick who is the maintainer of Drupal 7, Crell, the Database maintainer, DamZ, the SQLite and PostgreSQL maintainer, along side me, chx - the crazy drupal guy who maintains SQLite and the menu system in Drupal and of course Dries, the author of Drupal itself who also started Acquia, a company to aid smaller Drupal companies and Mollom, an anti spam filtering system for Drupal and other products. All these people I talk to on a daily basis from the other side of the world, its been awesome to finally meet them.

The conference has focused hugely on Drupal 7 and the future of the web and Drupal within it. Also its seems that Drupal is starting to move from having developers as the target market to now finally, having our clients become the target market. Drupal 7 introduces a enterprise approach full with scalability and performance. Drupal will continue to be both a product and a framework.

Today being the final day of presentations, I’m about to go catch some sessions on panels by merlinofchaos, apachesolr module and intergration, security for Drupal, Drupal staging and Drupal themeing.

Video sessions are being recorded (including mine) but they haven’t been released yet. Will let you know when they are ;)
