This year’s IT Rockstar has been and gone and Josh Waihi is our winner!
What does he get? A $10,000 trip to an IT conference of his choice. Josh chose to go to this year’s DrupalCon - DrupalCon is the conference for Drupal users, developers, designers and decision makers. It takes place September 1-5, 2009 and features 800+ attendees, 100+ sessions, 3 conference days, 2 code sprints and a day of commercial Drupal training. So stoked! I entered this competition called IT Rockstar put on by ninetwenty here in New Zealand. Its all about celebrating IT and appreciating the people in it, behind the scenes, who are never normally in the lime light. To enter, I had to submit an application and told them what I did that made me a rockstar. Next came a few weeks of voting by the public that cut down the entires to 10 people then 5. Then on Friday we had the finale where we got questioned and got to smash computer monitors all to be judges by a panel ot IT judges.

The grand prize is $10,000 NZD to spend on an overseas IT conference which is where Paris comes in. In September I’m off the Drupalcon which is held twice a year, this time, its in Paris, France. Yay!, I’ve never been to Europe before so I can’t wait, its gonna be a rock’n time!

So a few thank yous - 920, for putting on IT Rockstar, Catalyst IT - whom I work for, they’ve made me the Rockstar I’ve become and of course, Thanks to the Drupal Community for the support and voting for me. Oh! and lets not forget my twitter followers, you guys/gals rock also
