Slingshot and Woosh woes… Xtra nominated worst ISP in New Zealand

Interesting that Xtra received a mention in the latest Consumer survey (subscription required) as the worst ISP in the country.

Xtra had some problems, no doubt. The Go Large fiasco for example. To refresh your memory, Xtra promised “unleashed” broadband and one specific plan (”Go Large”) was supposed to allow “unlimited” downloads with reduced speeds at certain times of the day.

Telecom New Zealand introduces Okta Mobile with three Windows Mobile devices

Telecom New Zealand has revealed its new brand dedicated to mobile handsets by introducing three new Windows Mobile devices.

The Okta Touch is the first device in the country with a finger activated user interface. In addition to the usual tapping on screen many are used to when interacting with PDAs, the Okta Touch responds to gestures thanks to a technology called TouchFLO. It connects to Telecom New Zealand CDMA EV-DO network provinding fast 3G cellular data connections.
